It has been a long (and sweaty) day, but I am finally all settled into my new home in Charleston, SC. I will be living here for the next two months, working at JMC Charleston, an event planning firm. I started this blog as a way to share my upcoming experiences with anyone who is interested and also as a way to remember every detail of my summer in this historic city.
The drive to Charleston was surprisingly therapeutic. I was sad to leave my friends and carefree lifestyle in Athens, GA. I was also feeling a bit sleep-deprived after my 21st birthday celebration and my Spanish 4010 final in the same week! But after a few cups of coffee, I was able to clear my head. Instead of focusing on what I was going to miss this summer, I began to think about all the incredible experiences ahead of me. I am very passionate about my major in Public Relations and I want to gain as much experience in this field of work as I can while I am still in college. So with Lady Gaga's song "Alejandro" on repeat in my car, I made my way to my new home in Charleston. My aunt and cousins were extremely helpful with moving me and my wardrobe into their house. (Below are pictures of my make-shift closet and cute new room! And I'll go ahead and apologize that all of my blog pictures will be taken from by BlackBerry due to my lack of a real digital camera, but I figured phone pictures were better than no pictures...)

After running a few errands and attempting to familiarize my way around the Charleston area, the girls and I went to dinner at a new Japanese restaurant called O-ku. Well it was fabulous! Hip atmosphere, attractive people, a crowded bar, and most importantly, delicious food! We tried several items on the menu, including the Tuna Trio (pictured below) and the Ceviche Scallop Martini. My favorite dish was the famous Potato Wrap Sushi Roll, which consisted of shrimp tempura, avocado and shoe-string potatoes.

Well it has been a wonderful day in a new city! I look forward to immersing myself into Charleston culture and telling you all about it!
Ciao!
